WOW Whats On Guide: Trade Partner with RAI
As part of the Carlow Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme, the Carlow Federation of the Irish Countrywomen’s Association (ICA) produced a wonderful wall hanging depicting Ireland’s achievements since 1916.
It is an extremely informative piece which will serve as a lasting legacy for the centenary year. The 6x3ft wall hanging reflects on the last 100 years since the 1916 Rising incorporated quilting, embroidery and various stitching styles. Members of the twelve guilds of the Carlow Federation were involved in the making of the commemorative piece depicting such momentous occasions as rural electrification, Pope John Paul II’s visit to Ireland and the Good Friday Agreement.
Make sure to pop in to really admire the work gone into the piece also an opportunity to read up on the importance of each handmade patch.
